How do I know if my teen needs counseling?

If your teen girl is showing signs of distress, such as withdrawal from activities, sudden changes in mood, academic struggles, or expressing feelings of hopelessness, she may benefit from speaking with a counselor. SheBlooms can also assist teen girls and young women struggling with the mental heath effects of puberty, painful periods, PMDD and other reproductive health experiences. Our counselors can help assess her needs and develop a personalized plan for her mental health journey.

What types of counseling do you offer at SheBlooms?

We offer evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and art therapy. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where teen girls can express themselves and develop effective coping skills.

Are counseling sessions confidential?

Yes, all sessions at SheBlooms are confidential. We adhere to the ethical and legal guidelines of privacy, ensuring that our clients feel safe and secure. For clients under 18, we work closely with parents while maintaining appropriate confidentiality to foster trust and openness in therapy.

How do I schedule a counseling session for my teen?

To schedule a session, you can contact SheBlooms through our website. Our team will assist you in finding the right counselor for your teen girl’s needs and setting up an initial session.

How long do counseling sessions last, and what is the frequency?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the client’s needs. The frequency of sessions can be adjusted as progress is made and based on the counselor's recommendations.

Does SheBlooms offer virtual counseling for teen girls?

Yes, we offer both in-person and virtual counseling options to accommodate our clients’ needs. Virtual therapy provides a convenient way for teen girls to receive support from the comfort of their own homes, especially for those who may feel anxious about visiting in person.

What should my teen expect during the first counseling session?

During the first session, your teen will meet with one of our licensed therapists to discuss her concerns, set goals, and begin building a therapeutic relationship. The initial meeting is an opportunity for her to express her feelings and ask any questions she may have.

How much does counseling at SheBlooms cost?

Session costs range from $130-150. We are currently in-network with Cigna Insurance. If you are not in network with Cigna insurance, we are happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your out-of-network insurance. In this case, any reimbursement would go directly back to you.

At SheBlooms, we are committed to transparency in our billing practices. Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate detailing the expected costs of your care. This estimate will include charges for all services provided, and you will receive it at least one business day before your scheduled service. Key points about your Good Faith Estimate:

  • Timing: Delivered at least one business day before your appointment; three business days if scheduled more than 10 days in advance.

  • Accuracy: Reflects expected costs based on your treatment plan; you can dispute charges if the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate.

How can counseling help with reproductive issues like PMDD and menstrual pain?

Counseling provides a space to explore the emotional and mental impact of reproductive health issues like PMDD, menstrual pain, and gynecological concerns. Our therapists help young women develop coping strategies, understand their bodies better, and manage the psychological effects of these conditions.
