Rebecca is a Master’s Level Professional Counselor and Art Therapist at She Blooms with a commitment to supporting women through the various stages of life. With over six years of experience supporting women in pregnancy, postpartum, pregnancy loss, and stillbirth, Rebecca is passionate about women finding empowerment in their journey of growth and healing. Rebecca utilizes trauma-informed approaches paired with expressive therapies to achieve client-specific treatment goals.

Rebecca graduated cum laude with a dual degree in Professional Counseling and Art Therapy at Saint Mary’s College. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She holds qualifications as a Birth (IDI) and Postpartum Doula (DONA). Rebecca is an active member of the American Psychological Association and the American Art Therapy Association and is passionate about staying current on the latest research and developments in her field.

Rebecca’s journey to becoming a therapist was a lifelong aspiration that she finally pursued after the loss of her daughter in hopes of being able to offer healing to families who have experienced similar losses. Her personal journey through full-term loss, miscarriage, and subsequent pregnancy complications has deepened her empathy and greatly informed her practice. Rebecca's expertise in counseling and art therapy, combined with her personal experiences and unique background, allows her to offer unique and effective therapy.

Rebecca believes that therapy is a collaborative process with her clients where patients can expect a compassionate and individualized approach that fosters healing and personal growth. She views therapy as a safe space where clients can explore their emotions and experiences without judgment. Rebecca's unique life experiences, including her work as a doula, bring a holistic understanding of women's health and well-being to her practice. She tailors her methods to each individual, emphasizing client empowerment and active participation in the healing process.

Rebecca hails from a close-knit community where the importance of community support, empathy, and trauma-informed care is valued. Having lived in East Africa where she studied counseling approaches after trauma, and being married to an Ethiopian herself, her family and cultural experiences have significantly influenced her approaches to therapy yielding to more holistic and communal goals.

Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys anything outdoors, throwing on the potter’s wheel, and being around those from other nations. She is currently learning Amharic, her husband’s native language, and eats Ethiopian food any chance she gets. Her greatest work is being a mother to her two children on earth and her daughter who has gone before her.
