Extreme fatigue? Unstable moods? Deep depression and anxiety? Appetite changes, sleep issues and brain fog? Every month about a week before Aunt Flo visits? You might have PMDD.
PMDD, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, is a reality for some that significantly impairs their work, relationships and daily functions. Think PMS's big angry evil sister. PMDD affects roughly 1 in 20 women in their reproductive years.

Women who experience this disorder often feel like they are going crazy. Some women report feeling like a completely different person during this time of their cycle each month. Others report having suicidal thoughts, and mentioning that they believe they will always feel this way only to find out a week later, they are back to themselves. Going on this emotional roller coaster each month is debilitating.
Treatment can include SSRI's, NSAIDs, dietary changes and hormonal birth control.
If you think you might have PMDD, please reach out to your provider to discuss your treatment options. Talking with someone who understands and is clinically trained can also be helpful. Our Clinicians at She Blooms are ready to help you navigate life with PMDD.
You aren't crazy.
There is hope.
